Out off all the Dell ads I've done this is one of my favorites, even though it's not really an ad. Actually, it's the cover of a 16 page insert that went into all the computer rags. It's designed like a health warning on a cigarette package and explains that Compaq owners exposed to its contents may suffer shortage of breath and anxiety attacks etc.

It was also used as a mailer and at trade shows etc.

Hey, it doesn't always have to be a stinkin' ad to do the job.

For several years I wrote most of the Dell ads for GMO in San Francisco.

I could fill the Web site with enough Dell ads to put you to sleep. This is just one example of the long running campaign that compared Dell to Compaq. Others in the series had headlines like... Lap of luxury - Lap of lunacy. Road warrior - Road worrier. Top of the mark - Top of the mark-ups.
